2000 years of Charismatic Christianity

I'm reading a very interesting book right now - 2000 YEARS OF CHARISMATIC CHRISTIANITY by Eddie Hyatt. I've only read a few chapters but it's an intriguing look at Church History from a Charismatic / Pentecostal perspective.

I'm only up to AD 600 but it's clear that the notion that the charisma disappeared from the Church round about the the end of the NT is simply not sustainable.

We're not talking about minor figures in Church History either - in the City of God Augustine writes:-

"I am so pressed by the promise of finishing this book that I cannot record all the miracles I know."
He does record various instances of miracles including healings, casting out of demons and even the raising of the dead. This contrasts with his earlier writings where he cast doubt on the miraculous - Warfield et al quote his earlier works but not his later!

I'll do a full review once I've finished this book but I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Welcome to my blog

Well I've decided to give it another go!

I don't know why some people find embracing Calvinism and Charismatic Theology a struggle.

To me it seems logical to say that the God who is present in our Worship, Praise and Practice is also the God who is in control of our lives.

God gives His gifts as He pleases, calls people as He pleases and heals and restores as He pleases.
